Call for Papers

We invite submissions of short abstracts (max. 500 words) from philosophers, natural and social scientists, especially statisticians, pharmacologists, epidemiologists, and medical scientists in general, as well as engineers and data scientists. To submit, please prepare your abstracts for blind review and upload it to easychair by 10 December, 2015.

Contributing talks may tackle both theoretical and practical issues related to evidence, inference and risk in various scientific fields and may address among others the following topics:

  • Inference, explanation and hypothesis confirmation;
  • Inference to the Best Explanation and alternative inferential paradigms;
  • Statistical paradigms and foundations of statistics;
  • Data analysis, statistical and causal inference;
  • Statistical and causal modeling;
  • Scientific justification, model and theory selection;
  • Evidence theory;
  • Methods of evidence evaluation and synthesis;
  • Decision making in pharmaceutical research;
  • Methods in drug discovery, risk detection and management;
  • Safety issues and the precautionary principle;
  • History and philosophy of pharmacology.
